| Women travel for
a variety of reasons: adventure, escape, education, acquisition,
amusement, exploration and self-examination. Their reasons for
traveling are much the same as men's, but their interactions with
the world are markedly different. The collection here represents
what we believe to be the best books on women and travel. Many
are travelogues or biographies written by and about women encountering
foreign cultures and a few are guidebooks geared toward women's
needs while traveling. Taken together, they span centuries and
continents and a written tradition of women discovering the world.
