Fifty-three miles of West Virginia's New River and its gorge and forty miles of its tributaries are preserved as New River Gorge National River, Gauley River National Recreation Area and Bluestone National Scenic River. Six West Virginia state parks lie near the national river boundaries and are also featured on this map: Babcock State Park, Carnifex Ferry Battlefield, Hawks Nest, Little Beaver, Bluestone, Pipestem and Camp Creek.
