Walking the Winds was first released in 1994 and is one of the only guides to hiking and fishing in the range. The Wind River Range is arguably the most spectacular backpacking region in the entire Rockies. Forty summits top 13,000 feet, led by 13,804 Gannett, the highest point in Wyoming. Seven of the 10 largest glaciers in the US outside of Alaska are found in the range.

Over 16,000 lakes dot the Winds' alpine meadows, canyon floors and valleys. Hundreds have been stocked with cutthroat, golden, brown, mackinaw and brook trout.
