This full-color guidebook presents 95 selected species of wildflowers common to the Rocky Mountain region of the United States and Canada--from yellow arum (skunk cabbage) to glacier lily, blue camas to dogtooth violet. In addition to finding authoritative descriptions of wildflowers, readers will also enjoy reading the remarks of early naturalists and explorers who first documented these plants.

An overall map of the Rockies is included, as well as separate maps for 7 of the major parks of the Rockies in both Canada and the United States--Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone, Glacier, Glacier--Waterton, Kootenay-Yoho, Banff, and Jasper. Places where the explorers made their quoted remarks about particular wildflowers are noted on the park maps to help today's explorers find those plants in those very locales. The wildflowers are organized by color. The book includes a glossary of plant terms, a bibliography, and an index.
